Dalrymple Signs Department of Commerce Bill, Highlights Legislation to Benefit Grand Forks Area

Gov. Jack Dalrymple was in Grand Forks today to sign more than $46 million in legislation that will help create jobs and opportunities in an effort to continue to grow and diversify North Dakota's economy. Dalrymple signed House Bill 1018, the North Dakota Department of Commerce budget bill, and highlighted the bill's appropriations of more than $10 million to further develop the state's Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) industry.

The Governor signed the bill during a news conference at Clifford Hall on the University of North Dakota (UND) campus in Grand Forks. He was joined by Grand Forks Mayor Michael Brown, UND President Robert Kelley, Sen. Ray Holmberg, and other legislators and local officials.

In addition to signing the Commerce bill, Dalrymple highlighted nearly $175 million in legislation passed during the 2015 Legislative Session that will directly impact Grand Forks and the surrounding area. The legislation provides additional funding for economic development, higher education, infrastructure enhancements and other projects.

"This legislative session produced important and meaningful legislation that will have a real impact on Grand Forks and the region," Dalrymple said. "Key items in the Commerce bill, as well as other bills passed during the session, will further grow and diversify our economy and create exciting opportunities for Grand Forks and the surrounding area."
